Jealous Is As Jealous Does (Meine Liebe/Meine Liebe Wieder, Daniel/Nicholas)

Title: Jealous Is As Jealous Does
Fandom: Meine Liebe/Meine Liebe Wieder
Pairing: Daniel/Nicholas
Author: little teapot
Recipient: Wilhelm Graf von Trokenbeerenauslese
Rating: R
Warning: Sex (a little), cattiness
Summary: Jealousy in the form of gossip. Obsession in the form of jealousy.
Author’s Notes: Wilhelm Graf von Trokenbeerenauslese’s prompt/notes: Meine Liebe, Daniel/Nicholas (in any order): Because we don't know enough about them. It would be particularly interesting to see them in the months before the events of Weider — that is, before they know they'll have a shot at the Strahi after all — or in the early days after the second headmaster's announcement. Alternatively (and with more kink), do they obsess about the aristocrats as much as they seem to? And how does that play out?

Nicholas flicked the locks of his suitcase and flipped the lid open. It fell back against his bed with a muffled thump and his clothing seemed to spring out, finally free from the tight confines of the luggage.

Well, they needed to be hung up anyway, and Nicholas did that first. Once his uniforms were neatly squared away, he finished unloading, stowed his suitcase beneath the bed and sat down to his desk to make a list of the things he’d need to get when they were given passes to go into town for supplies.

His first day back to the Rosenstolz Academy had been one full of surprises and it had caught him a bit off guard. It was pleasant, to be sure and a change long needed was finally implemented.

Midway through his woolgathering, as his list wasn’t getting made, a knock at the door brought him back. “It’s open,” he called out. Closing his pen, he set it and his list to the side – he could finish it later – and turned to see Daniel strolling in.

After a pass by his chair, where fingers brushed lightly across the back of Nicholas’ neck, which sent a shiver down his spine, Daniel headed straight for his bed. “Well?” he asked, dropping to flop on his back across the mattress.

“Well?”

Daniel sighed loudly. “You were there. What do you think?”

“I think the new headmaster is making sweeping reform that was not met well with the nobles.” Nicholas stretched out in his chair, legs splayed, and slumped down to let his head rock on the uncomfortable wooden back. “It caught them off guard.”

“The whole thing caught them off guard. It didn’t look like they were expecting Headmaster Bartomalaus to have resigned, either.”

“Some of the nobles took it well enough.”

“Or were paying lip service to it.”

“Same thing.”

“Is it? Or will they find ways to undercut us under the guise of ‘being helpful’?” Daniel rose to rest on an elbow, looking far too at ease on Nicholas’ bed.

“I’ll admit they will be the ones we need to watch closer. Those openly hostile and more direct, we can see coming,” said Nicholas.

Obviously satisfied he’d won that round, Daniel flopped back on the bed again. “I can’t wait. We finally get a chance to show we’re just as good, if not better than some of the candidates. That just because they’re nobles doesn’t make it right they are guaranteed a slot in the Strahl candidate program. We deserve a chance to help advise leaders in matters of politics for our country, if not moreso, than the nobles.”

Nicholas smiled. His friend could be so passionate about his worthiness, although his obsession with being ‘better than a noble’ grated on Nicholas’ nerves at times.

“How was your break, Daniel?” Nicholas asked in the hopes of diverting his friend’s attention.

“It was fun,” he deadpanned. Splaying his arms to the side, “I went to a tutor and ate, slept and breathed French for four weeks. Most boring month of my life but I can conjugate more verbs than I think I’ll ever have a need to. You?” Tipping to stretch out on his side, Daniel propped his head on one hand.

Nicholas let his head roll against the seat back to the side to watch Daniel. “I had private fencing lessons with Master Niemann, to work on my dueling techniques. That was all my father could afford this time.”

“Still, that’s good. Your footwork needed a little practice but you’re still one of the best.”

“Not as good as Orpherus.”

“Yes you are. Don’t sell yourself short about it.” Daniel snorted. “And at least you aren’t like Naoji.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Well, it’s like…he’s got this unusual manner about him.”

”Daniel, he is from another country. His ways may seem a bit odd to us.” Nicholas got up from the desk and went to sit on the bed next to Daniel, nudging his leg out of the way until his friend shifted to lean against the headboard.

“Ludwig doesn’t seem to have a problem with him.” Daniel’s insatiable appetite for gossip had not been quelled.

“Well, they do drink tea a lot together,” Nicholas agreed.

“In private.”

“I’m sure they talk about important issues for the campus and student body.”

“Ooooh, is that what they call it now?”

It was Nicholas’ turn to deadpan. "Apparently. Why, did you want me to discuss important issues with you?"

Daniel blinked and blinked again. He sat there, gape-mouthed, before bursting into a raucous laughter. “Point. But I don’t have any tea.”

Nicholas smiled and motioned Daniel over. “You’re such a jerk.”

“Yes. I’m smug, too.” At the invitation, Daniel crawled across the bed to kneel in front of Nicholas. “But not any more or less so than Ludwig,” he said. Stopping when he was right in Nicholas’ face, he blinked and smiled lazily.

Daniel was just as infuriating as Ludwig, although not in the same way. Where Ludwig baited with logic and rationale, slipping it in and leaving it to fester until you’re forced to deal or lose your platform of debate, Daniel went for the emotional jugular to knock you off balance quickly and keep you reeling afterward.

Nicholas needed another way to deflect this continued subject of the nobles. His finger lifted to touch at the earring in Daniel’s ear. “That’s new. What did your father say about it?”

Daniel reached up and fingered over the tiny stud, tangling his fingers with Nicholas’. He rose to his knees and slid Nicholas’ hand down over the front of his uniform to trace the hard outline of his cock. From gossip to lust, how predictable, not that Nicholas was complaining. “He was furious at first. Threatened to throw me out of the house. My mother helped him come around. ‘Fashionable, all the young men were wearing them’, she said.”

“They are not. Well, except Eduard and I don’t think he’s ‘fashionable’. And Orpherus.”

You know that and I know that. My father doesn’t know that.” Daniel shoved at Nicholas to lie flat on the bed and crawled to straddle his hips. “And you don’t think Eduard is fashionable? You don’t like his dark, gypsy-halfbreed look?”

“I like red heads, actually,” Nicholas said. He combed his fingers through Daniel’s red hair, drawing them around his jaw to end at the new piercing again. Hooking behind Daniel’s head, he pulled down until their bodies were flush and their erections matched. Nicholas gasped; a lift of his hips telegraphed his own desires. “It suits you.”

Lifting up to straddle Nicholas, Daniel’s fingers flew down the front of Nicholas’ uniform jacket, pushing the heavy material, along with the linen shirt, off his shoulders. “You’re just avoiding the subject,” he said, his hands smoothing over the planes of Nicholas’ chest.

“I’ve been trying ever since you got here.” It felt good, warm hand on warm flesh and he rocked his hips beneath Daniel’s weight, the line of his cock pressing against the seam of Daniel’s trousers.

Daniel’s expression took a decidedly wicked turn and he lowered against Nicholas, sliding down his body. Exaggerated, he stuck his tongue out and drew a straight line from chin to bellybutton. “If I didn’t know better, I’d have to wonder if you were getting soft.”

“Not a chance of that.” Nicholas bit his lower lip to choke off the moan. The walls in their dormitories were thin; they couldn’t be too noisy and Daniel’s hot breath felt very nice against his bare skin.

“Mmm, so I see.”

Then he felt the brush of air over his cock when Daniel peeled away his uniform trousers and Nicholas thought he’d gone to heaven.

Daniel used his mouth knowing just how to manipulate public opinion through strategic placement of information. Also known as gossip mongering.

And as Nicholas stared up at the ceiling of his room with the wet slip of heat over his cock, he was reminded Daniel was good at other things with that mouth.

In the days to come, Nicholas would have need of both skills, if he could just focus Daniel’s jealousy of the nobles into a more productive vein. Site Meter
